‘I shall try to do what is right’

Just a little post prompted by a quote:

I shall try to do what is right... | Sacraparental.com | www.partnersworld.org

Cry, the Beloved Country is one of my favourite and most formative books. I read this quote from it today at the beginning of a collection of photographs and stories, Displaced Reflections, by Oddny Gumaer, cofounder of Partners Relief & Development. You can see more on this book here, her second one, Picking Flowers on Dusty Roads here, and follow her blog here.

The image comes from Partners, from their Donate Your Voice resources. It is a photograph of a little Karen boy in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Burma, where Partners is supporting the IDP community.

Zoya Phan was born in Karen State and fled at 14 when the Burmese Army bombed her village. She now writes for the Guardian, among other things, and you can read her take on the international political response to Burma here.

Please consider this a warm invitation to follow me on Facebook for daily links, resources and Sacraparentalish tidbits, on Pinterest for link-plantations (including this Change the World board) and on Twitter for ranting.
